Toski / Snake eyes blades

d*mon said: I am interested in picking up a 6 iron in either the Toski or Snake Eyes Blades, I have heard that both were good irons and heard that they were both forged from Endo, anyone know if this is true? I plan on picking up a 6 iron and a black gold X shaft soon.

R*ckford35 said: I don't think they are anymore. I'm pretty sure a few years back that the Tour cavity forged were Endo from GS. Not sure about Toski. These really caught my eye from GS this year. While cast, they still look outstanding. Best GS iron to date, in my eyes... R35

The two sets of cast GS clubs that I've hit were very good. But I can't remember the models to save my life. That being said, the cavity back forged irons they had out a couple years ago sucked. So, I don't know what to think. At 10 bucks per head, I think they're probably not as kick ass as they seem. If they were, they'd be asking more than 80 bucks for the set. R35

As much as I wanted to like them just because of the price. The Toski blade has gotten some reviews. Wouldn't mind just buying a 6 iron head, shafting it up and taking it for a whirl http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...2006/toski.jpg

R35 When I saw the preview on these irons I thought the same thing, best looking iron under the GS label in years. Of course, I am still playing with the last best looking set in the Tour Cavity Pro's from the Wishon era around the turn of the millenium. I have been a GS convert from the first set of irons I built (Backflow irons, prpgressive set that were cavity backs through the 7-iron and blades 8-iron thry Utility Wedge) and stayed with them since. The Tour Cavity Pro's were kind of an update to the Backflow series with the exception of material. They are cast, but cast from 304 steel so that they have a forged feel from a cast head. http://www.shottalk.com/gallery/file.../ualtimbag.JPG If you look closely at the irons you can see the progression of the cavity from mid iron to short irons. Don't let the price fool you. The GS line is one of the best bargains in their catalog. There is a slight premium put on the Snake Eyes and Killer Bee lines, but the XPC and GS lines are very reasonably priced. The forgings cost more to manufacture so their price is normally 3 times higher than the cast price. The cheapest I have seen the forgings on closeout was around $20 a head where the cast closeouts get down around $5-$7 a head. Unlike the OEM's GS won't have a first year premium price that will eventually drop as the market demand declines. If demand drops on a GS product they close it out and replace it with a new line. Best deal is if you wait until the Friends and Family sales which they run twice a year and you can get up to 40% off clubheads. That being said, I built a set of XPC 3000 irons that I absolutely hated. No feel what so ever. I ended up selling them to a co-worker that was just starting out in the game and he loves them. Go figure.
