Newb wedges?
S*an said: When it comes to irons, I have a pretty good idea of what to look for to find the 'forgiving' models (hollow-baclked, perimiter weighting, etc) and to avoid blades and the like.... But when it comes to wedges... no idea. They're all essentially 'blades, right? So, what does it come down to with them? Are there some mfg's known for forgiving wedges? A certain type of mfg'ing process (cast vs. forged or similar)? Is it more like putters... go out and try some out and see what you like. see what feels good? Any help would be excellent! - Sean

If I was to recommend a few based on reviews and personal experience, they would be these: Cleveland 588 Mizuno MP Callaway Forged Vintage Callaway X series Titleist Vokey Watson (these can be had for SUPER cheap, like 79 bucks for a 3 pack) The key is feel. Get something you like the feel of, the sound of and the look of. Then practice your butt off and learn them inside and out. There's no right or wrong wedge answer. The best we can do is steer you in the right direction so you can jump in head first when you try them. Good luck, R35

I have the 54 and 58 degree models of those, which alternate in my back with my 52, 56 and 58 Vokeys depending on the course I'm playing. If you're REALLY on a budget then those ultra-cheap Wilson Harmonized wedges, which can be found in pretty much any sports store for $30 each, are actually a really good wedge to do a very decent job.

Awesome suggestion. 2Fast2's gave me his Wilson Harmonized 60*. I'm like 14 for 14 getting out of bunkers with it. I may have to keep it in the bag just for that reason. If I had to pick a forgiving blade style wedge that would be #1 on the list of anything I've ever hit. Price is right too.
